AS A PIECE OF FITS, YOU WILL: (The day-to-day on the job)
- Develop a Human Capital, Assets, and Economic Development study to assess the community members’ capacities and the available physical/structural assets to provide strategies to strengthen local capacities through education and social organization and for the identification of potential sustainable community enterprises.
- The study should include the analysis of the natural, historical, and cultural assets that already exist in the community. The study must integrate a SWOT analysis that summarizes the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and strengths of the community’s human capital and physical/structural assets.
- Among the potential education and social organization strategies to be presented, the study should consider training and workshops on entrepreneurship, ecotourism, and the visitor economy, that also increase environmental awareness for residents and visitors.
- Upon completing the analysis, the strategies should be formulated as courses of actions and must be categorized at the community, municipality and state agency level, focused on the community’s sustainable economic development. Strategies should be specific, based on findings, contain guidance on how they can be implemented, and propose potential collaborators.
- Identify and develop the methodology and tools necessary to conduct a socioeconomic study in the community.
- Prepare a detailed workplan schedule of site visits and coordinate access to the assessment area between community representatives and residents.
- Coordinate access to the assessment area with community representatives and residents.
- Review historical records from federal, state, and local databases.
- Assess applicable legal and regulatory frameworks to identify past activities and existing policies that may support viable solutions.
- Conduct a literature review of relevant sources, including research papers, studies, books, articles, and other pertinent documentation.
- Implement the approved methodology and data gathering tools.
- Use and manage storage repository for all data collected and ensure Personal Identifiable Information.
- Analyze data gathered.
- Develop a comprehensive report summarizing the methodology used, key findings identified through analysis of existing conditions, the courses of action, and five (5) potential funding sources.
- Create an accessible presentation for community members that summarizes the study’s objectives, methodologies, key findings, recommendations and any other relevant content included in the comprehensive report in a language accessible that ensures the community engagement and action. Visual aids such as images, maps, graphs, and infographics may be utilized to enhance understanding.
- Coordinate the final presentation to the community with community representatives and residents.
