- This project proposes the execution of a comprehensive assessment report on the condition of critical community infrastructure in the communities of Río Piedras.
- This study aims to determine the capacity of each facility to function as a resilience centers or response point in disaster situations. The study will include a detailed assessment of the physical condition of the buildings, compliance with zoning and building codes, and an evaluation of security, fire, and escape systems. In addition, the operational capacity of each building to respond to emergencies will be assessed, including its access to power, water, communications, and accessibility. Through a systematic review of community facilities, the study will generate practical recommendations to strengthen preparedness, improve safety, and guide future investments in resilient community infrastructure.
- The study should be aligned with the following goals, objectives and actions established by the community in their Community Resilience Plan:
- Strengthen the resilience of key facilities (e.g., Plaza del Mercado, Centro de Salud, schools, water and energy systems, small and medium-sized businesses) to ensure continuity of basic services and access to essential products during emergencies.
- Identify and develop the methodology and tools necessary to conduct the study in the community.
- Prepare a detailed workplan schedule of site visits and coordinate access to the assessment area between community representatives and residents.
- Coordinate access to the assessment area with community representatives and residents.
- Review historical records from federal, state, and local databases.
- Assess applicable legal and regulatory frameworks to identify past activities and existing policies that may support viable solutions.
- Conduct a literature review of relevant sources, including research papers, studies, books, articles, and other pertinent documentation.
